The Roman aqueduct spans the Plaza del Azoguejo at the entrance to the old town and is the meeting point for almost every visit. It is a good place for drop-offs and pickups for day visitors, since cars cannot get much further into the old town.

When demand peaks

• Long weekends and trips from Madrid (weekends, long weekends and Easter): Segovia and La Granja are among the most common day trips from Madrid. On long weekends and at Easter the old town and the area around the aqueduct fill up, and return pickups in the late afternoon all coincide.
• San Juan and San Pedro fiestas (late June): Segovia city's patron-saint fiestas, spanning San Juan and San Pedro, bring concerts and street events over several days. There are traffic closures in the centre and many people returning to the villages at night.

Tip: For Barajas from Segovia, the route via the AP-61 and AP-6 has tolls; mention it when booking if you prefer another route, even if slower.
