Leaving from Tierra de Pinares

In the north-west, Cuéllar is the hub of Segovia's Tierra de Pinares, an area of resin pine forest, timber industry and irrigated farming, with Coca castle not far away. It lies halfway between Segovia and Valladolid, and many residents have their reference hospital in the capital and their most convenient railway station in one city or the other.

Which way it goes

To the west, the N-110 links Segovia with Ávila via Villacastín; to the north, the A-601 leads to Valladolid via Cuéllar. The same N-110, in the opposite direction, crosses the north-east through Riaza towards Soria, and Salamanca is reached via Ávila or by joining the A-6 and A-50.

Soria lies far to the north-east: the route follows the N-110 through Riaza and the Ayllón area, with no motorway for much of the way. With no train between them, a car is the practical way to go.

On arrival: Soria y su tierra

The city of Soria, on the banks of the Duero, holds the hospital, the station, the province's services and a large share of its population. It is where people come from far-flung villages for appointments and paperwork, and where most trips to Madrid, Zaragoza and Logroño begin.

Tip: For Barajas from Segovia, the route via the AP-61 and AP-6 has tolls; mention it when booking if you prefer another route, even if slower.
